Gel, Hard Gel or Natural? Choosing the Right Nail Care for You

Not every client needs the same service. Some want a polished look that lasts a month; others want to grow out fragile nails. Here is how to choose between gel polish, hard-gel strengthening and a treatment-focused natural manicure.

Gel polish — for colour that lasts

Gel polish is cured under a UV/LED lamp and lasts 3–4 weeks without chipping. It is ideal if your nails are reasonably strong but you want long-lasting colour and shine.

Hard-gel strengthening — for thin or splitting nails

A thin layer of hard gel is applied over the natural nail to reinforce it. This is the best option if your nails bend, peel or break before they reach the desired length.

It can be worn with or without colour and grows out naturally with the nail.

Japanese & treatment manicure — for repair

If your nails have been over-filed or damaged, a few cycles of treatment manicure with beeswax or paraffin restore flexibility and shine without any product on top.

How removal protects long-term nail health

Never peel gel polish off. Professional soak-off removal preserves the natural nail layers. At Diamant Falke we use gentle removal and always finish with cuticle oil.

Frequently asked questions

+Does gel polish ruin your nails?

No, not when applied and removed by a trained technician. Damage usually comes from peeling gel off at home or aggressive filing during prep.

+What is the difference between gel polish and hard gel?

Gel polish is a coloured coating for shine and longevity. Hard gel is a structural product that strengthens the nail and can be used to add length or reinforce weak nails.

+Can I switch from acrylics to gel or natural nails?

Yes. We recommend a careful removal appointment, followed by a treatment manicure to restore the natural nail before deciding on the next service.

+How do I keep my nails healthy between appointments?

Apply cuticle oil daily, wear gloves when cleaning, and avoid using your nails as tools. Book a soak-off and refill every 3–4 weeks.
